AHF is a major sponsor who provided significant support for our education program. They made it possible for us to go into 33 Broward County schools with HIV education. Further, AHF is underwriting additional support groups and educational film endeavors. This will aid us in our mission to increase awareness and decrease the stigma of HIV/AIDS by educating, enlightening and empowering the community locally and broadly.
Funding is provided in part by the Broward County Board of Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council. Specifically, current funding supports exhibits, cultural series, films and play readings.
The SMART Ride provided startup funds for the museum. Subsequently, they have donated additional money to make possible group visits to the museum. From their website:
“For those not familiar with SMART Ride, we are a 2-day, 165 Mile fully supported bicycle ride. What makes us truly unique is our 100% guarantee that every penny you raise as a rider or crew will go to help those affected, infected or at risk for HIV and AIDS in Florida. In the past 12 years we have raised over $7.3 Million and 100% of every penny went back to the communities we all serve.”
